Monday Overnights: Respectable Return for ABC’s ‘Bachelor in Paradise’

ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” moved into the Monday 8-10 p.m. ET block with a dominant 3.3 rating/6 share in households, which was one-tenth of a rating point (or 3 percent) above the 3.2/ 6 for competing “American Ninja Warrior” on NBC. Comparably, however, “Bachelor in Paradise” was 35 percent below the 5.1/ 9 for the season finale of “The Bachelorette” one week earlier. The race is on to see which show will win in adults 18-49 (and all the key demos).

NBC moved into the Monday 10 p.m. overnight winner’s circle care of “Dateline” (3.1/ 6), which bested competing “Elementary” on CBS (2.6/ 5) and “The Proposal” on ABC (1.8/ 4) by 19 percent and 72 percent, respectively.

Also original last night was “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox, which averaged a 2.2/ 4 in the household overnights for a two-hour edition (from 8-10 p.m. ET). And The CW featured summer staples “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” (#5: 1.1/ 2 at 8 p.m.) into a 0.9/ 2 for “Whose Line is it Anyway?” in the Monday 9 p.m. half-hour.

At 9 p.m. on CBS was sophomore drama “Salvation” at a fourth-place 1.9/ 3. Chances of a fourth season for “Salvation” was unlikely.
