Monday Overnights: Respectable Start for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ on CBS

NBC, at present, owns the Monday overnights thanks to “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” which topped the evening at a 6.2 rating/10 share in households from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that bested ABC’s “The Bachelor” (#2: 4.1/ 7) by 51 percent.

In season premiere news, “Celebrity Big Brother” on CBS was on the overnight map with a 3.7 / 6 in households at 8 p.m. Given the young skew for this show, it should be an interesting battle in adults 18-49 for the three reality/competitions in the time period.

“Celebrity Big Brother” led into a typical 3.8/ 6 for the reboot of “Magnum, P.I.” at 9 p.m., followed by older-skewing “Bull” at a 4.8/ 9 at 10 p.m. While “Bull” outdelivered competing “The Good Doctor” on ABC (#2: 4.3/ 8) and “Manifest” on NBC (#3: 3.7/ 7) by 12 and 30 percent, respectively, it is expected to finish third in the time period in adults 18-49.

In week two news, Fox drama “The Passage” scored a fourth-place 3.3/ 5 in households at 9 p.m., which was 13 percent below the 3.8/ 6 one week earlier. Overnight retention out of lead-in “The Resident” (#3: 4.1/ 7 at 8 p.m.) was 80 percent.

The CW capped off the evening with superhero dramas “Arrow” (#5: 1.0/ 2 At 8 p.m.) and “Black Lightning” (#5: 0.7/ 1 at 9 p.m.).
