Monday Overnights: Solid Return for NBC’s ‘The Voice;’ Disappointing Opening Levels for ‘The Enemy Within’

Ratings Breakdown:
“The Voice” remains alive and very well on NBC, with the midseason premiere at a dominant 7.2 rating/12 share in the overnight households from 8-10 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was 11 percent above the fall cycle premiere (6.5 rating on Sept. 24, 2018), and it outdelivered competing “The Bachelor” on ABC (4.9/ 8) by a hefty 47 percent.

In series premiere news, “The Voice” led into the launch of NBC drama “The Enemy Within” at a disappointing 3.8/ 7 in households at 10 p.m. Comparably, that trailed competing “Bull” on CBS (4.9/ 9) and “The Good Doctor” on ABC (4.5/ 8) by 22 percent and 16 percent, respectively. It dropped from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (7.2/12) by a hefty 47 percent. And it was seven percent below the year-ago debut of “The Good Girls” (4.1/ 7). Since most new series decline 10 to 20 percent in week two, consider this a modest start for “The Enemy Within.”

Elsewhere, CBS had nothing unusual to report with its 8-10 p.m. combination of sitcoms “The Neighborhood” (#3: 4.8/ 8) and “Man With a Plan” (#3: 4.0/ 6) and “Magnum, P.I.” (#3: 4.3/ 7). Recent Fox entry “The Passage” slipped to a series low 2.5/ 4 at 9 p.m. And The CW was in repeats.
