Monday Overnights: ‘The Voice’ Leads NBC to Monday Victory

Ratings Breakdown:
NBC opened this first full week in December first in the household overnights thanks to “The Voice,” which topped the night at a 6.4 rating/10 share from 8-10 p.m. But a 10 p.m. edition of game show “The Wall” dipped to a second-place 2.8/ 5, which was 52 percent below competing “The Good Doctor” on ABC (#1: 5.8/10). Comparably, “The Good Doctor” bested year-ago time period occupant “Conviction” (2.2/ 4 on 12/05/16) by a whopping 164 percent. See you at the Emmy Awards, Freddie Highmore.

In season-premiere news, ABC holiday competition “The Great Christmas Light Fight” returned with a 3.3/ 5 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was eight percent below the 3.6/ 6 on the year-ago evening.

On CBS, an encore telecast of “The Big Bang Theory” gave the 8 p.m. half-hour a boost, with a 5.1/ 8 (#2). And that benefited lead-out “Man With a Plan” (#2: 4.3/ 7), which increased by 13 percent week-to-week. Next on the Eye net were comedies “Superior Donuts” (#2: 3.8/ 6) and “9JKL” (#2: 3.2/ 5) from 9-10 p.m. Happily, CBS just granted the worthy “Man With a Plan” and “Superior Donuts” full season episode orders.

A Monday 10 p.m. encore telecast of CBS crime solver “S.W.A.T.” finished third with a 2.7/ 5.

Elsewhere, Fox was at typical overnight levels care of dramas “Lucifer” (#4” 2.5/ 4) and freshman “The Gifted” (#4”: 2.1/ 3), which continues to deliver via time shifting. And The CW aired “Supergirl” (#5: 1.4/ 2) and freshman military drama “Valor” (#5: 0.7/ 1), which is waiting word on its fate.
