Ratings Breakdown:
ABC topped this second Monday in April, besting No. 2 NBC by 10 percent in the household overnights. But the home of “The Voice” owns the night in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demo groups).

“Dancing With the Stars” led the 8-10 p.m. block with a 7.2 rating/12 share, which year-to-year was down by 18 percent (versus an 8.8/14 on 4/11/16). Despite the still sizeable lead-in support, relocated sophomore drama “Quantico” dipped to a distant third-place 2.0/ 4 at 10 p.m. Comparably, that was 53 percent below year-ago time period occupant “Castle” (4.3/ 7 on 4/11/16) and the household retention for “Quantico” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “Dancing With the Stars” (7.4/12) was a mere 27 percent. Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking.

NBC’s competing “The Voice” scored a 6.2/10 from 8-10 p.m., which was 11 percent below the 7.0/11 one year earlier. While freshman lead-out “Taken” (#2: 2.7/ 5 at 10 p.m.) was 35 percent above ABC’s competing Quantico,” it was also 31 percent below “Blindspot” on the year-ago evening (3.9/ 7). And the household retention for “Taken” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” 6.1/10) was also lacking at 44 percent. I think the cancellation clock is also ticking here.

Elsewhere, CBS had to settle for the distant No. 3 spot with its combination of sitcoms “Kevin Can Wait” (#3: 3.9/ 7), “Man with a Plan” (#3: 3.4/ 6), “Superior Donuts” (#3: 3.3/ 5) and “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 3.0/ 5), and 10 p.m. drama “Scorpion” (#1: 4.2/ 7). Of the five shows, only “2 Broke Girls” has not been officially renewed for next season yet.

Fox, meanwhile, continues to struggle with freshman dramas “24: Legacy” (#4: 2.4/ 4) and “APB,” which year-to-year slipped by 8 percent and 21 percent from the year-ago combination of “Gotham” (2.6/ 4) and “Lucifer” (2.4/ 4). And The CW capped off the evening with repeats of “Supergirl” (#5: 0.7/ 1) and “”Penn & Teller: Fool Us” (#5: 0.5/ 1).
