Making Up For Lost Time
With production companies back to work many in the TV industry have been busy making up for lost time. For us, the consumer, that means that we’ll soon be able to again watch our favorite TV shows as they return after sometimes lengthy periods away from the screen.
If TV watching isn’t for you though, why not play some free bingo online? It is an evening entertainment favorite that is played by millions all over the world, and you can even play it with your friends. Bingo not doing it for you either? Why not get stuck into that book that you’ve been meaning to pick up for a while.
Fantasy & Sci-Fi
It is such an exciting time to be a fantasy and sci-fi fan with some amazing shows set to return as well as some new ones ready to make their small screen debuts. Over the past few years we’ve seen some incredible shows grace our screens such as “Game of Thrones,” “The Mandalorian,” and “Disenchantment.”
The fall of 2021 doesn’t look to disappoint either so carry on reading to see what else is to come, as well as what has already been a hit with fans.
“The Witcher”
Set to be released in December, The Witcher season 2 is without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated TV shows of the year. It’s hard to believe that it has been almost 2 whole years since the hit TV show first aired and so we’re itching to see what happens next.
A teaser, released by Netflix, hints towards the inclusion of the wild hunt, one of Geralt’s enemies in the smash video game The Witcher 3. If rumors are to be believed, this season will be much more linear and will cut out much of the timeline jumping found in season 1.
“The Book of Boba Fett”
Bounty hunters and “Star Wars” are synonymous with one another and this interest has peaked in more recent times thanks to the success of “The Mandalorian.” Having aired earlier this year, the show revealed that the thought to be dead bounty hunter Boba Fett is in fact still alive in the “Star Wars” universe and fans can’t wait for his spinoff show to air.
Set to hit our screens in late 2021, the Disney Plus show will feature Boba Fett (“Temeura Morrison”) alongside his partner in crime and fellow bounty hunter Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who we got a glimpse of in the latter stages of “The Mandalorian.”
“The Wheel of Time”
Amazon’s “The Wheel of Time” is an epic fantasy show based on Robert Jordan’s novel series of the same name. Set to air in November 2021, the huge cast will feature stars such as Rosamund Pike (“Gone Girl”), Alvaro Morte (“Money Heist”), and Daniel Henney (“Criminal Minds”).
Having been in the works for over 4 years, there is a huge amount of excitement ahead of the show’s release and this hype has been added to by the fact that filming for season 2 has already begun despite season 1 yet to even premiere. Amazon seems to really believe in this show and that alone should excite you.
Drama
Is there any better way to spend the fall than by cozying up on the sofa and binge-watching your favorite drama TV shows? While the days of “Gilmore Girls” and “Friends” might be long gone, don’t disappear, for there are plenty of amazing drama shows still on air.
In more recent times Netlflix’s “Ozark” and Amazon’s “The Boys” have gripped viewers and given fresh life to a sometimes flat genre and with the drama shows we’re going to explore below, that trend is set to continue way into the fall of 2021.
“Gossip Girl”
Having dropped on HBO Max at the start of July, the reboot of the highly acclaimed and hugely adored “Gossip Girl” has captured a new generation of fans with their new-look cast and revitalized storyline. Writer Joshua Safran has emphasized that his reboot will feature a diverse cast and try to stand on, not rely on, the success of the original series.
While this reboot will again follow a group of over-privileged young adults trying to find their way in New York City, the writing team have put a lot of effort into making the show feel very current with plenty of pop culture and real-world references.
“Dear White People”
Back on our screens for its fourth and final season, Netflix’s “Dear White People” is as divisive as it is comforting. It is a show that is meant to make you feel uncomfortable at times and does so in order to make you really understand what you’re seeing unfold.
If you have been to college, some of the things you see unfold on the show suddenly become not at all outlandish with student demonstrations and secret societies being surprisingly commonplace, even if they aren’t quite as dramatic as found on the show.
Definitely one to give a watch, especially since this latest season will be it’s last.
“Dexter: New Blood”
In case you needed reminding, you just can’t get away from “Dexter.” Almost a decade on from the show’s much-maligned ending, dubbed by many as the “worst finale of all time”, we once again will get to see Michael C. Hall’s forensic analyst slash serial killer in action once again.
The writing team admitted that this sequel might not have taken place had the original ending been warmly received, saying that, “it gnawed a little at us […] that a series as good as Dexter didn’t end in a way that was perhaps worthy of the series.”
