Ratings Breakdown:
Note: Program averages for the Big 3 are approximate due to coverage of the Super Tuesday Republican and Democratic primaries in the 10 p.m. ET hour.

CBS inched past NBC by one-tenth of a rating point in the household overnights, but NBC is poised for adult 18-49 victory in all six half-hours thanks to “The Voice” at a healthy 7.9 rating/12 share from 8-10 p.m. Unlike the network scripted dramas, which are losing considerable steam following these long hiatuses, a singing competition like “The Voice” is not impacted because this is an entirely new edition.

Just renewed “NCIS” on CBS dominated the evening in the household overnights, as always, with a 9.5/15 from 8-9 p.m. And it led into spin-off “NCIS: New Orleans” at a second-place 7.0/11 at 9 p.m., which slipped by 26 percent.

In season (or series) finale news, two episodes of ABC’s reboot of “The Muppets” averaged a mere 1.8/ 3 (#3t) from 8-9 p.m. into sophomore “Marvel’s Agent Carter” at a 1.6/ 2 (#3) from 9-10 p.m. Both series should officially be ending, and the lesson to be learned is not every show should be remade.

Fox was off the Tuesday charts once again care of sitcoms “New Girl” (#3: 2.1/ 3), “Grandfathered” (#3t, 1.6/ 2), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 1.5/ 2) and “The Grinder” (#4: 1.2/ 2). Tick, tock…the cancellation clock should be ticking on all four of these half-hours. And The CW populated the evening with an encore telecast of “The World Dog Awards” at a 0.7/ 1 in households from 8-10 p.m.

Coverage of Super Tuesday in the 10 p.m. hour fared as follows by half-hour:

10:00 p.m.
ABC – Your Voice/Your Vote 2016: 1.8/ 3 (#3)
CBS – CBS News: Campaign 2016: 3.5/ 6 (#2)
NBC – Decision 2016: Super Tuesday: 4.7/ 8 (#1)

10:30 p.m.
ABC – Your Voice/Your Vote 2016: 1.8/ 3 (#3)
CBS – CBS News: Campaign 2016: 2.8/ 5 (#2)
NBC – Decision 2016: Super Tuesday: 3.1/ 5 (#1)
