‘Name That Tune’ Revival in the Works at CBS

Talks to Revive the Game Show on the Eye Network in 2006 Did Not Move Forward

CBS has ordered a pilot for a new, updated version of the classic music game show “Name That Tune,” which originally launched in June 1953 and, including daytime, has been appeared in six different versions. The most recent incarnation aired in daytime syndication in the 1984-85 season with Jim Lange as host. A variation of “Name That Tune” called “Name That Video” ran on VH1 from 2001–02. The show was hosted by Karyn Bryant and featured contestants competing to name song titles by viewing the music video.

Ghen Maynard, who is overseeing the new reboot for CBS Studios, previously shepherded a revival attempt by CBS in 2006.

Casting will begin soon on this proposed new version of “Name That Tune,” which has the show’s original developers Ralph and Noah Rubenstein onboard as executive producers, along with “Fear Factor” veteran David Hurwitz.
