NBC Cancels Sitcom ‘Sunnyside’

NBC has canceled struggling “Sunnyside” and will pull the sitcom off the Thursday rotation following tonight’s fourth telecast. The remainder of the 11 episodes will air online. Stepping into the Thursday 9:30 p.m. ET half-hour out of “The Good Doctor” next week will be the third — and final– season of the revival of “Will & Grace.”

“Sunnyside” is currently in production on its ninth episode and will still shoot the final two installments. 

Created by Kal Penn and Matt Murray, “Sunnyside” stars Penn as Garrett Modi, a disgraced New York City councilman who attempts to get back on his feet when a motley crew of immigrants reach out to him to help them become American citizens. The cast includes Joel Kim Booster, Diana-Maria Riva, Kiran Deol, Poppy Liu, Moses Storm and Samba Schutte.
