  1. FROM NBC

THE VOICE” POST-OLYMPIC TELECAST DELIVERS STRONG SAMPLING

IT’S THE TOP “VOICE” IN 18-49 SINCE MARCH AND NBC’S BEST NON-OLYMPIC RATING IN THE SLOT SINCE THE GOLDEN GLOBES

“The Voice: Blind Auditions Olympic Premiere” (2.7/10 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall from 10:30-11 p.m. ET):
    · Generated strong sampling, scoring the highest “Voice” rating since March 28 in 18-49 (2.8).

    · More than doubled the ABC and CBS original competition in the time period combined (2.7 vs. a combined 1.2 for ABC’s “Match Game” and CBS’s “Braindead”).

    · Delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the slot, excluding Olympics-related programming, since the Golden Globes on Jan. 10.

    · Returned up +23% versus last spring’s finale in 18-49 (2.7 vs. 2.2 from 9-11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24).

    · Will grow substantially via time-shifting and VOD – last season, Monday’s “Voice” grew by +24% going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 rating (from a 2.81 to a 3.49) and 2.0 million viewers overall (11.5 million to 13.5 million).

NOTE: Primetime results are based on “fast affiliate time period” data from Nielsen Media Research. All ratings are “live plus same day” unless otherwise indicated.

    • Why in the world is NBC STILL giving the Voice this type of hype? It has a set audience and I doubt this will help. Should have let some of their new programming have some extra eyeballs or one of their weaker shows from last year have some extra eyeballs.

Bad move NBC. You don’t get a lot of eyeballs watching TV this often.

      • I actually thought it was a fairly bad result for The Voice, which used to get more viewers without a good lead-in.

The fact they had to resort to “best in the slot since whenever” spin is an indication of how poorly it performed.

        • Voice did perform a bit disappointing, but I’d blame the lackluster lead-in on this night: the Closing Ceremonies with Ryan Seacrest as one of its co-hosts.

        • I still think they should have used a drama or a comedy. The Voice has a set audience. It’s not going to grow anymore

          • No arguments from me. They desperately need new real hits and trying to boost an established show that’s unlikely to grow much, if at all, smells of really short-term thinking.

I do blame network owners for that as executives, for all their faults, do respond to the messages sent by their employers.
