NBC Greenlights Maya Rudolph / Martin Short Variety Hour

The Series Follows Rudolph's 2014 Variety Special

Despite the recent failure of “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris,” NBC is going back to the variety well with a one-hour series hosted by “Saturday Night Live’ alum Maya Rudolph and Martin Short. Tentatively titled “Maya and Marty in Manhattan” the series is expected to be a blend of musical numbers, comedy sketches and celebrity guests, which would be a continuation of Rudolph’s 2014 variety special.

Lorne Michaels and “Late Show with David Letterman’s” Matt Roberts and Erin David are producing with Rudolph and Short.” The series is expected to launch in late May (after the traditional television season is over).
