NBC Renews ‘Chicago’ Drama Trio

'Chicago Fire,' 'Chicago PD' and 'Chicago Med' to Return in the 2019-20 TV Season

NBC, not surprisingly, has confirmed new seasons in 2019-20 for Wednesday scripted dramas “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med.” This will take “Chicago Fire” into season 8, “Chicago PD” into season 7, and “Chicago Med” into season 5. Combined, the trio on Wednesday has lifted the Peacock net to double-digit percent increases from one year earlier.

“We remain in awe of the job Dick Wolf, our producers, casts and crews do in creating some of the most compelling television today,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “The ‘Chicago’ franchise is a lynchpin of our schedule and we’re thrilled that audiences have embraced our Wednesdays with such incredible passion for these shows and characters.”

If Dick Wolf also snags a renewal for veteran crime solver “Law & Order: SVU,” that will take it into season 21 and will make it the longest running scripted drama in television history.
