NCAAF Profiles: Oklahoma Sooners

© by https://stormininnorman.com/

When the NFL is not about, we need other excitement, and the NCAAF is more than happy to fill this void in our lives. We don’t just watch and enjoy it, we also bet on it with NCAAF odds

One difference with the NCAAF though, is just how many teams they have. It is so hard to choose a favorite, and while most people will usually choose their local teams, some choose the team that stands out to them the most.

One of these teams is the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners have not always been as good as they once were, but they certainly have improved a great deal and their current team is a favorite of many fans.

They are a member of the Big-12 conference in the Division I of the NCAA. The program has 7 national champions, with 50 conference championships and 162 First-team All-Americans.

There are 23 members, with 18 players and 5 coaches that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame for NCAAF. So, you know they have a good reputation. They also hold the longest winning streak in Division I as well.

But what more can we tell you? Much more. If you are thinking of getting invested in the NCAAF, then stick around, because you will want to support a team no-doubt, and of all those in the NCAAF, the Oklahoma Sooners are a great choice!

Here is why!

Who Are They?

The Oklahoma Sooners play their home games in Norman, Oklahoma. Their head coach is currently Brent Venables, who only started serving this year (2022). Last year, they decided they felt like joining the Southeastern Conference, sending a letter of intent.

Their media contracts with the Big 12 ends in the 2024-2025 year, but they could join the SEC sooner, even this season!

They have changed conferences before though. From the Southwest in 1919 to the Big Eight in 1920 until 1995.

They have 7 national titles they’ve claimed overall, in 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985 and 2000. They also have 50 total conference titles to their name as well!

The Sooners colors are crimson and cream, and their mascot is known as the Sooner Schooner.

But, let’s see how they are doing right now, as that is the only way to tell if they are worth your time, money, and attention out of all the many NCAAF teams out there!

Stats

Stats are important when it comes to sport of any kind, not only seeing how the team is doing overall, but seeing how players are doing overall as well. Individual players can make or break a game.

When you support a team, or many teams, you are probably going to be making bets on how they will do. If one player can make or break a game, seeing if that player is present for that game matters a lot! You do not want to waste money if they are off on injury with a lesser chance of a win after all.

So, how are the Sooners doing?

Leading Players

Our above reason is exactly why we are going to update you on the leading players in the NCAAF Oklahoma Sooners.

Leading in Yards: 814- Dillon Gabriel.

Leading in Yards: 412- Eric Gray.

Rec: 35- Mike Woods II.

Leading in Yards: 705- Marvin Mims.

Touch Downs: 12- Dillion Gabriel.

Interceptions: 2- Justin Broiles.

However, these are not the only stats we have.

CBS Sports is keeping a keen eye on the Sooners and Caleb Williams (Quarterback) has stats sky high on CBS notes. With an impressive 1915 yardage and 21 touchdowns to his name he is doing well.

However, that is not all! He is also 2nd in rushing as well with a yardage of 438 and an average of 5.6 yards.

Marvin Mims (WR),  leading in yards in our previous stats is leading in receiving yards at 705 with a 22.0 average! However, when it comes to scoring Kennedy Brooks tops the charts with Caleb Williams right behind him.

Overall, we would say that as a Quarterback, Caleb Williams was one of the best!

Their Latest Game

Their latest game was last year, on December 29th 2021. They did win the game of course beating Oregon at a total of 47-33. It was tight, as Oregon made up 22 points in the 3rd but  Oklahoma secured 24-0 by the end of the 1st half, so Oregon had no hope.
