Netflix Orders Hidden Camera Series ‘Prank Encounters’

Eight Episodes Ordered

Netflix has greenlit a hidden camera prank series called “Prank Encounters,” which will be produced and hosted by “Stranger Things” star Galen Matazarro. The series is from Ben Silverman and Howard Owens’ Propagate, and it will launch later this year with eight episodes.

The logline: Each episode of “Prank Encounters”  takes two complete strangers who each think they’re starting their first day at a new job. It’s business as usual until their paths collide and these part-time jobs turn into full-time nightmares.

Matarazzo will executive produce with Silverman, Owens and Kevin Healey for Propagate, and Rob Hyde (“Terrence Howard’s Fright Club,” “Troy”). Anthony Gonzalez (“Dance Moms,” “Undercover Boss”) directs.

The upcoming third season of “Stranger Things,” meanwhile, will be available for streaming on Thursday, July 4.

  1. This show is catching a lot of flak because of its premise. It does sound pretty mean to make people think that they have a job, then pulling that rug out from under them. I wonder if Netflix will go on with the show?
