Netflix Orders Ryan Murphy Musical Comedy ‘The Politician’

Upcoming Series Snags a Two Season Order

Netflix has given a two season order to a one-hour musical comedy from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan called “The Politician.” The series, set to star Tony Award winner Ben Platt (“Dear Evan Hansen”), is described as a satirical comedy revolving around a wealthy politician from Santa Barbara played by Platt. Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow are reportedly in talks to join the cast.

”The Politician” is the second Netflix project with Ryan Murphy (and company) after “Ratched,” with Sarah Paulson slated to star as a younger version of the diabolical Nurse Ratched from Oscar winning theatrical “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
