Netflix Revives Former ABC Drama ‘Designated Survivor’

Ten New Episodes Ordered for 2019

Netflix has picked-up for canceled ABC drama “Designated Survivor,” starring Kiefer Sutherland, for a third season. Ten new episodes have been ordered for 2019. The alphabet net opted against a third season due to the low traditional Nielsen ratings.

The logline: President Kirkman (Sutherland) will face a political reality… campaigning. What does it take to make a leader? What price will he be willing to pay? This new season will explore today’s world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance and “fake news.” Democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance.

Production on “Designated Survivor” will begin later this year, while seasons one and 2two come exclusively to Netflix in the U.S. and Canada this Fall.
