‘Northern Exposure’ Revival in Development at CBS

Rob Morrow Will Return as Dr. Joel Fleishman Amid a New Set of Characters

“Northern Exposure,” the quirky CBS drama set in Alaska that debuted in the summer of 1990 and aired for six seasons, is is development at the Eye net with Rob Morrow returning as Dr. Joel Fleishman. The proposed new series will follow Morrow’s character as he travels back to Alaska, this time to attend a funeral, which naturally leads to further adventures that has him sticking around once again.  

Morrow will also executive produce in addition to starring. Fellow original series star John Corbett is attached as a producer, though he is not set to appear in the revival at this time.

Josh Brand will write and executive produce, with Morrow, John Falsey, and Ben Silverman executive producing. Universal Television will produce. Brand and Falsey co-created the original series. The duo also co-created the medical drama “St. Elsewhere” as well as shows like “A Year in the Life,” “Going to Extremes,” and “I’ll Fly Away.
