Pop TV Cancels Sitcom “One Day at a Time”

After reviving the reboot of Norman Lear sitcom “One Day at a Time” for a fourth season (following its cancellation on Netflix), Pop TV has opted against a fifth season. Pop TV rose to record heights at the Primetime Emmy Awards this year as a result of the final season of “Schitt’s Creek,” is pulling away from scripted TV shows after CBS merged with Viacom. As a result, the studio behind “One Day at a Time,” Sony Pictures TV, is shopping the series to be picked up elsewhere.

Justina Machado, Rita Moreno, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Todd Grinnell, Sheridan Pierce and Stephen Tobolowsky starred on the show, which produced 46 episodes in total from 2017 to 2012. The original version of “One Day at a Time” aired for nine seasons on CBS (from 1975 to 1984), with a total tally of 209 episodes.
