Promoting Diversity and Inclusion In Tech

Level Up is a social initiative aiming to support and upskill individuals who find themselves in or fleeing conflict areas, through educational opportunities. In its 5th year, the program continues to support underprivileged communities through various scholarships in software development and marketing.

Organised by Zartis in partnership with CodeOp, the first international tech school for women, trans, and non-binary individuals, Level Up: Diversity In Tech will offer 5 scholarships in Fullstack Software Development. 

Level Up: Diversity In Tech scholarships will provide the safe space, training, and resources needed to encourage, support, and equip women+ with the skills they need to thrive in the tech industry. In doing so, we hope to make a positive change in the culture of tech worldwide.

Globally, men constitute 92% of software developers. A global survey from 2022 shows only 5% of software developers in the world identify as women, and a mere 2% identify as non-binary or genderqueer. These stats show clearly that there is a long way to go until we achieve true gender diversity in tech.

Katrina Walker, CEO & Founder of CodeOp stated, “We’ve been supporting women, trans and nonbinary people from over 70 countries worldwide since 2018 and we know that the number one barrier to enrolling into a bootcamp is financial. For this reason, CodeOp, a social venture, has a mandate to provide 10% of our students with a scholarship every year. Partnering with Zartis is a perfect way to extend our reach to new pools of great talent who are looking to transition into tech.”

Level Up has already supported 80 individuals to get one step closer to their career goals and find employment in established companies. One of the graduates, who has started a career in Ireland at Accenture upon graduation said, “Level Up provided me an opportunity to have a high-quality training with a well-known institution. The course improved my employability prospects, and since then, I have received a couple of new job offers.”

The course will be offered 100% online, with live tutor sessions and peer-to-peer project development sessions, enabling students to build hands-on skills with continued personal support. No previous experience in coding is required; however, all applicants must complete the interview process before they are accepted to the programme. Women, transgender, and non-binary individuals (women+) are welcomed to take part in the application process and get a chance to start their careers in tech.
