Remembering Daniel Jon Greene

Daniel Jon Greene passed away on February 22, 2020, in his Santa Rosa Valley home, surrounded by his loving family, following a 3-year battle with cancer. He was 85 years old.

Dan was born on February 10, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, to Mildred (Neville) and Clifford Greene. His family later moved to Dallas, TX, where he spent his youth. Dan was honored to serve in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army, an elite infantry unit specializing in parachute assault operations into hostile territories.

Following his military service, Dan enjoyed a brief acting career in NYC. He later worked for NBC (NY), before transferring to NBC West Coast in 1968. In 1974, he left NBC and established his own TV advertising business, PS Promotions, which continues to be a leader in the industry today. Dan was known and respected for his work in the television advertising industry. His unsurpassed integrity, kindness, and generous spirit will be remembered and cherished forever.

Dan had many creative interests, including sketching, watercolor painting, computer graphics, and cooking. He also enjoyed target practice at the range. He dearly loved his dogs and was the greatest supporter of his wife, Linda’s horse passion. Dan led by example in business and family, had an infectious sense of humor, told a great story, and mixed a fantastic margarita! He ended every phone call with his signature “phone hug,” a gesture that will be missed by many.

Dan is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda (Pierson Greene); two sons, Kevin (wife Annie) and Darryl Greene; four grandchildren, Eli, Erika, Kailey and Riley; and brother Fred (wife Carolyn) Greene.

A Celebration of Life in Dan’s honor is being planned by his family, with the date to be determined after the current COVID-19 crisis is mitigated and gatherings are permitted again. In Dan’s memory, contributions may be made to the City of Hope, or an animal rescue or veterans’ organization of your choice.
