Saturday Final Nationals: Rio 2016 on NBCUniversal Networks Rises 14 Percent in Total Audience from Prior Saturday

From NBC Sports Group (full press release): For Saturday’s primetime coverage, NBC Olympics’ Total Audience Delivery — calculating average minute viewing across broadcast, cable, and digital — had an average of 26.8 million viewers with an 15.9 household rating. The night was actually up 14 percent in viewership and up 22 percent in households from the Rio Olympic Saturday of one week prior (23.5 million viewers/13.0 household rating on August 6, 2016).

Viewership on NBC on Saturday night peaked at 32.7 million for Michael Phelps’ final race – a gold-medal win in the 4x100m medley relay – from 10-10:15pm ET/PT

From the second Saturday in London 2012, however, the night was down 4 percent in viewership and down 6 percent in household rating (28.0 million viewers/15.9 household rating on August 4, 2012) when it had aired solely on NBC.

NBCSN averaged 967,000 viewers on Saturday in primetime for coverage featuring the Brazil-Colombia men’s soccer game.

Golf Channel’s afternoon Olympic men’s golf coverage was up +336% among average viewers vs. the same Saturday in 2012 opposite London Olympics (967,000 average viewers, Noon-3:27pm ET). This is Golf Channel’s second best performance in this time period on a Saturday this year. The time period posted a 0.66 U.S. household ratings, up +267% vs. same time period in 2012. Additionally, early coverage throughout the morning (6:30 am-Noon ET), was Golf Channel’s best performance in that time period this year with 449,000 average viewers, +995% vs. 2012 (.32 U.S. HH Rtg, +967% vs. 2012).

NBC Olympics through Friday has topped 2 BILLION streaming minutes via NBCOlympics.com & NBC Sports app (and is at 1.67 billion live streaming minutes).
