The Houston Astros were crowned MLB world champions with a 4-1 Game 6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series.

Fox, the World Series broadcaster, was also victorious — its third consecutive Saturday win thanks to baseball.

Game Six’s half-hours were:

8:00 — Viewers: 8.72 million, A18-49: 1.8/15
8:30 — Viewers: 9.21 million, A18-49: 2.0/16

10:30 — Viewers: 9.40 million, A18-49: 2.1/17

Upon comparing the respective fast affiliates for the Fox network from 8-11 p.m. last year, it was down 20 percent in viewers and down 25 percent in demo from Game 6 (Braves-Astros, on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 — 11.8 million viewers, 2.8 rating in adults 18-49).

College football aired on multiple networks opposite baseball, with ESPN’s LSU-Alabama most likely the sport’s top draw on this prime time. Blowout games aired on both NBC (Notre Dame 35, Clemson 14) and ABC (Florida State 45, Miami Fla. 3). Here were its half-hours:

NBC “Notre Dame Football”
8:00 — Viewers: 2.87 million, A18-49: 0.5/ 4
8:30 — Viewers: 3.05 million, A18-49: 0.5/ 4

ABC “Saturday Night Football”

10:30 — Viewers: 1.12 million, A18-49: 0.2/ 2

CBS’ lone original Saturday program was the 10 p.m. edition of “48 Hours” (Viewers: #2, 2.63 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.2/ 2).

The CW aired an original edition of “Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars” (Viewers: #5, 336,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0 from 8-9 p.m.), followed by a new episode of “World.’s Funniest Animals” at 9 p.m. (Viewers: #5, 322,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0) and a rerun at 9:30 p.m. (Viewers: #5, 355,000; A18-49: #5, 0.1/ 0).

Although their fast affiliate figures were not yet available at post time, it is projected that ESPN (with LSU’s 32-31 overtime victory over Alabama), and Hallmark Channel (with the telefilm “Lights, Camera, Christmas!”) to be at least in the competitive mix and among the leading networks in prime time.
