Artificial Intelligence has shown a tremendous rhythm in development and implementation. The world hasn’t expected to see its fast changes. AI has brought much positive feedback as well as negative assumptions. However, the first prevails in many countries, in particular Ukraine. IT entrepreneur and investor, co-founder and partner of the investment group Roosh, Sergey Tokarev, shared Ukraine’s success in implementing AI.
Despite the fears and concerns around Artificial Intelligence, Sergey Tokarev sees it as a crucial instrument to enhance new startups and support Ukraine against the full-scale invasion of russia. The investor believes AI is more likely to save humanity than to destroy it.
“Artificial Intelligence is more likely to save humanity than to destroy it. After all, we can program and predict technologies — something impossible to achieve with humans. People drive under the influence, commit acts of terrorism, and engage in nuclear blackmail. I think technology can prevent and counteract these actions,” stated Tokarev.
The businessman proposes to determine it as Augmented Intelligence that allows people to focus on more creative and complicated tasks. It doesn’t replace human intelligence but enhances it and complements it. According to Sergey Tokarev, many tech companies write a significant part of their code by using various AI tools. This fact doesn’t reduce the number of developers or their workload. It helps specialists accomplish much more work at the same working time.
In Ukraine, AI is actively used. The Roosh co-founder exemplifies the ClearView AI facial recognition system which has access to ten billion photos from social networks. This technology is implemented at checkpoints and, for example, to identify war criminals from russia.
Another successful Ukrainian AI project is the deep-tech company Zibra AI which develops 3D assets for games and virtual environments using Artificial Intelligence. This year, the company raised $500,000 in investments from the American venture fund a16z, and its developer community has 100,000 users worldwide. Overall, Artificial Intelligence is implemented in various fields.
According to Sergey Tokarev, Ukraine can become a global platform for testing technologies of major companies working in AI while other countries impose restrictions on technology development. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate how the industry can flourish when not constrained. With this in mind, we can attract investments and new technologies that will help Ukraine prosper economically and on the tech battlefield.
