Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped this first Sunday in May in the metered market overnights, besting No. 2 ABC by 47 percent in households. But ABC was most improved thanks to 9-11 p.m. special, “The Last 100 Days of Diana,” which scored a very respectable 4.9 rating/8 share in households. Comparably, that built from week-ago time period occupants “The Match Game” (2.3/ 4) and “American Crime” (1.4/ 3) by an average of 165 percent. And it increased from lead-in “Once Upon a Time” (#3: 2.0/ 3 at 8 p.m.) by a hefty 145 percent.
CBS had a typical Sunday, meanwhile, with its line-up of granddaddy “60 Minutes” (#1 for the night: 7.2/13), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#1: 6.1/10), “Madam Secretary” (#1: 5.2/ 8) and “Elementary” (#3: 2.8/ 5), which is still awaiting word on its fate.
In season (or series) finale news, two episodes of Fox comedy “Last Man on Earth” barely registered with an average 1.1/ 2 from 9-10 p.m. But that was still better than waiting-to-be canceled lead-in “Making History,” which was off the charts at a 0.9/ 1 at 8:30 p.m. (#4).
Earlier in the evening on Fox were two episodes (repeat and original) of animated Bob’s Burgers,” which averaged a 1.1/ 2 in the household overnights from 7-8 p.m. And that led into a 1.5/ 3 (#4) for “The Simpsons” in the 8 p.m. half-hour.
NBC was also typical overnight levels with its combination of a repeat of “Little Big Shots” (#3: 2.4/ 4 at 7 p.m.), an original installment of “Little Big Shots” (#2: 5.0/ 8 at 8 p.m.), “Chicago Justice” (#3: 3.5/ 5 at 9 p.m.) and “Shades of Blue” (#2: 2.9/ 5 at 10 p.m.). And veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” scored a second-place 3.0/ 5 on ABC at 7 p.m.
