The Sunday Fun & Games lineup continued ABC’s Sunday night leadership in total viewers (5.44 million). The network also led in adults 25-54 (1.5 rating/5 share).
The BET network led among adults 18-49 (1.17 rating from 6 p.m.-midnight) and adults 18-34 (1.14 rating from 6 p.m.-midnight) with the “2017 BET Awards” (as well as preceded by pre-awards show coverage). Aside from BET, the event was televised across eight other Viacom-owned networks, including MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central (there were twelve networks for the 2016 awards). But similar to most other awards shows over the past year, the BET Awards sank to a multi-year low in total viewers, drawing a combined 5.8 million viewers — this matches the lowest audience in nine years (also 5.8 million, in 2008), but without mathematical rounding of the figure, it may be the least-watched BET Awards since 2004 (5.6 million).
