Sunday Final Nationals: ‘Downton Abbey’ Series Ender and Michigan Democratic Debate Limit the Broadcast Nets

CBS and AMC returned to being Sunday night’s leaders — CBS with total viewers (8.66 million), AMC with all key demos (2.5 adults 18-49 rating, 2.1 adults 18-34 rating, 2.8 adults 25-54 rating).

On the night, PBS aired the series finale of “Downton Abbey” while CNN aired the seventh “Democratic Presidential Debate” from Michigan — both of which drew strong numbers (even though, for the latter, it was second least-watched debate to-date of this political cycle) as they drove viewers further away from the competing broadcast network offerings.

Caught in the hefty off-network crossfire was the Sunday premiere of ABC’s “The Family” which drew minimal interest and similar numbers to the network’s previous time slot occupant “Blood & Oil”.
