Sunday Final Nationals: Grammy Awards on CBS Reach 3-Year High

The “59th Annual Grammy Awards” gave CBS an overwhelming Sunday night victory. From 7-11 p.m., the network more than doubled the average total viewership (22.48 million vs. 9.08 million) and adults 18-49 delivery (6.4 rating vs. 2.4 rating) over ABC, NBC and Fox combined.

This year’s ceremony, hosted by James Corden of “The Late Late Show” and featured such winners (and performances) from Adele and Beyoncé among many others, delivered its most-watched Grammys since 2014. Compared to the previous year on Monday, Feb. 15, “The Grammys” was up +1 percent in both adults 25-54 (from 9.0/24) and adults 18-49 (from 7.7/24), +3 percent in adults 18-34 (from 6.4/24) and added +1.14 million viewers (from 24.93m, +5 percent).

Top ten markets for “The 59th Grammys”:

1. New York – 23.0 rating/36 share
2. Philadelphia – 21.2/33
3. San Diego – 19.4/34 (largest local market rating increase from 2016; up +45 percent from 13.4/25)
4. Nashville – 19.3/27
5. St. Louis – 19.0/29
5. Pittsburgh – 19.0/29
7. Boston – 18.6/29
8. Kansas City – 18.5/29
9. Chicago – 18.3/31
10. New Orleans – 18.0/26

The Grammys arena’s home market of Los Angeles ranked 15th with a 17.0 rating/31 share.
