This seven-year SNF low comes on the heels of a seven-year rating low for the NFL kickoff game (Carolina-Denver on NBC) just three days prior.
Earlier in the day, Fox experienced yearly gains for its NFL coverage. Their early window (1 p.m.) of regional action drew a 9.2 household rating and 15.8 million viewers; Fox’s best Week 1 early window numbers to-date since acquiring the NFL in 1994. In the late afternoon, Fox with 90 percent of the nation watching N.Y. Giants-Dallas (10 percent Detroit-Indianapolis) drew a 15.5 household rating and 27.5 million viewers; up 15 percent in households and up 18 percent from the year-ago Week 1 late window on CBS (primarily Baltimore-Denver on 9/13/15).
