Ratings Breakdown:
”Sunday Night Football,” as always, lifted NBC to solid Sunday dominance with the 20 to 17 victory for the Dallas Cowboys over the Oakland Raiders at an estimated 12.3 rating/21 share in households from 8:30-11:45 p.m. ET. And CBS got a boost from the mammoth 20.5/35 for the NFL in the household overnights in the 7 p.m. half-hour, leading into canceled “Wisdom of the Crowd” (5.3/ 8), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (5.1/ 8) and “Madam Secretary” (4.3/ 8) from 8:30-11:30 p.m. All individual program results for CBS are approximate.

In the specials department was three-hour “A Christmas Story Live!” on Fox, which struggled at a mere 2.8/ 5 in the household overnights from 7-10 p.m. Comparably, this will easily be the lowest rated live musical on any network in recent years to-date.

ABC, meanwhile, populated the evening with an encore telecast of classic 1965 theatrical “The Sound of Music” at a 2.8/ 5 from 7-11 p.m.
