SUNDAY, JANUARY 21, 2018

What follows are the metered market household results by half-hour for the four broadcast networks for Sunday, January 28, 2018:

Household Rating/Share
CBS: 11.8/20, ABC: 3.0/ 5, NBC: 1.8/ 3, Fox: 0.8/ 1

-Percent Change From the Year-Ago Evening:
CBS: +87, ABC: +20, NBC: no change, Fox: -73

Ratings Breakdown:
CBS more than doubled the competition combined in the household overnights thanks to the “60th Annual Grammy Awards.” And this will certainly translate into a significant demographic victory. But the three-and-one-half hour telecast actually dipped by 21 percent year-to-year, with a 12.7 rating/27 share in the household overnights from 7:30-11 p.m. ET (versus a 16.0/26 on 2/12/17). That 16.0 household rating last February for the “Grammys” translated into 26.07 million viewers and a 7.8 rating in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data.

Earlier in the evening on CBS was special “”Grammy Red Carpet Live” at a dominant 5.9/11 in the 7 p.m. half-hour.

Elsewhere, ABC wasted two more original telecasts of “Shark Tank,” which scored a 3.0/ 5 (#2) in the 9 p.m. hour and a 2.7/ 5 (#2) at 10 p.m. Needless to say, the network is freeing up the Sunday 9-11 p.m. ET block for the revival of “American Idol” in March.

”Shark Tank” led out of two encore telecasts of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” which averaged a 3.2/ 6 from 7-9 p.m.

NBC populated the evening with two hours of “Dateline” (#3: avg. 2.6/ 4 from 7-9 p.m.) and a repeat of 2014 theatrical “Neighbors” (1.0/ 2 from 9-11 p.m.). And Fox featured encores of “ Bob’s Burgers” (#4: avg. 0.7/ 1 from 7-8 p.m.), “The Simpsons” (#4: 0.8/ 1), “Ghosted” (#4: 0.7/ 1), “Family Guy” (#4: 0.9/ 1) and “LA to Vegas” (#4: 0.9/ 1).
