Sunday Overnights: ‘Teen Choice 2019’ Left at the Starting Gate on Fox

Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led this typically modest summer Sunday, with an encore telecast of granddaddy “60 Minutes” topping the evening at a 5.4 rating/11 share in the household overnights at 7 p.m. A particularly satisfying (at least for this viewer) episode of summer staple “Big Brother” tied an encore telecast of ABC’s competing “Celebrity Family Feud” for first at 8 p.m., each with a 3.3/ 6. And back-to-back episodes of sophomore CBS crime solver “Instinct” averaged a 2.6/ 5 from 9-11 p.m. Chances of a third season of “Instinct” are doubtful.

In the specials depart was live “Teen Choice 2019” on Fox, with a miniscule 0.5/ 1 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. Social media, of course, is the true benchmark for this youthful awards show. And NBC featured two-hours of U.S. Gymnastics, which scored a 2.1/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.

Other than “To Tell the Truth” on ABC (#1t: 2.6/ 5 at 10 p.m.), the remainder of the evening were repeat telecasts as follows:
