As always, fast affiliate results for any live event are always approximate (and are subject to change when the final Nielsen ratings are released). That said, “The 94th Academy Awards” on ABC perked up to an estimated 13.73 million viewers and a 2.9 rating/21 share in adults 18-49 for the primetime portion from 8-11 p.m. ET. This does not included the 11 p.m. ET hour (which will likely result in a lower audience tally than reported because of smaller HUT – households using television – levels in the hour). And it also includes the 7 p.m. ET airing of special “On Red Carpet Live” in the Central time zone, which averaged an approximate 9.04 million viewers and a 1.7/13 in the demo in the 7 p.m. ET hour.

Comparably, “The Academy Awards” telecast in 2021 averaged just 10.4 million viewers (based on the final nationals), which was down by a considerable 56 percent from the previous ceremony. In other words, this is a marked improvement.

Once upon a time, the competing broadcast networks countered the Oscars with repeats. But only NBC from 7-9 p.m. ET and Fox in the 7 p.m. hour were in repeats. CBS was approximate, in particular, because of live coverage of NCAA Basketball bleeding into the 7 p.m. ET half-hour. Here are the results for the Eye net beginning at 7:30 p.m. Note: “The Equalizer” was preempted for an additional telecast of “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

CBS/Sunday
7:30 p.m. – “60 Minutes”
Viewers: 6.59 million (#2), A18-49: 0.8/ 6 (#2)

8:30 p.m. – “NCIS: Los Angeles”
Viewers: 5.12 million (#2), A18-49: 0.5/ 4 (#2)

9:30 p.m. – “NCIS: Los Angeles”
Viewers: 4.45 million (#2), A18-49: 0.5/ 3 (#2)

10:30 p.m. – “S.W.A.T.” (half-hour average only)
Viewers: 3.39 million (#2), A18-49: 0.4/ 3 (#2)

On NBC, game show “The Weakest Link” (Viewers: #3, 1.34 million; A18-49: #4, 0.2/ 1 at 9 p.m.) and medical drama “Transplant” (Viewers: #3, 934,000; A18-49: #3, 0.1/ 1 at 10 p.m.), which is on life support, led out of an encore telecast of “American Song Contest” from 7- 9 p.m.

The CW featured relocated “Riverdale” (Viewers: #5, 253,000; A18-49: #5, 0.1/ 0 at 8 p.m.) and the series finale of documentary “March” (Viewers: #5, 99,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0). It does not get much lower than that. And Fox’s diluted animation block remained just that. Take a look:

Fox/Sunday
8:00 p.m. – “The Simpsons”
Viewers: 1.05 million (#3), A18-49: 0.3/ 2 (#3)

8:30 p.m. – “The Great North”

9:00 p.m. – “Bob’s Burgers”
Viewers: 990,000 (#4), A18-49: 0.3/ 2 (#3)

9:30 p.m. – “Family Guy”
Viewers: 1.12 million (#4), A18-49: 0.3/ 2 (#3)
