Betting on college football – being successful at it, at least – is a tough endeavor. With so many games happening every weekend, it can become all too easy to put your money down on the right pick.
Making a future bet becomes even more difficult. If you want to put a few bucks down on a college football future, here are the bets you should be considering.
Texas Under 9.5 Wins
Every year, the college football betting world gets behind a Texas resurgence. In sports and sports betting, there are teams that get more love from the betting public than they may deserve. In college football, the Texas Longhorns are usually at the top of that list.
Every year, we hear “Texas is back.” But consider this: Texas hasn’t won more than 9 games since 2009. Facing big-time road games at Alabama, Baylor, and TCU, plus the annual Red River Rivalry with Oklahoma, it is all too easy to see the ‘Horns lose 3-4 games. Until Texas shows that they can live up to the hype, fade them all day long.

Utah to Win the Pac-12
When it comes to placing a future bet, there are some teams that fly under the radar. In the Pac-12, everyone loves Caleb Williams and USC. But don’t sleep on the Utes, who have won the conference the past two years, beating Oregon and USC in the championship game. Yet here we are, and they aren’t favorites this year, either.
Utah is a physical team that dominates along the line of scrimmage. With Cam Rising coming back from injury, they will have a steady hand under center. They have the talent and the history to not only compete at a higher level in the Pac-12 but to make it a three-peat as conference champions.
Georgia to Win the National Championship
Georgia has won the last two national championships, so picking them to win a third straight might seem crazy. But when you think about the level of talent, the coaching, and the ease of their schedule this season, it’s hard to think of anything other than another unbeaten season.
They are completely loaded from top to bottom with elite talent. They have the best tight end and offensive line in the country. The defense is full of elite athletes, especially on the defensive line. The schedule is so easy that you might not find a game where the Dawgs aren’t favored by at least 10 points. Georgia is just too good to fail at this point, especially when they aren’t running the gauntlet that the SEC can provide most seasons.
Penn State to Win the Big Ten
In the Big Ten, all of the focus is (rightfully) on Ohio State and Michigan. The bitter rivals made the playoff a year ago and look like heavy favorites to do so yet again. But don’t sleep on the Nittany Lions, who are coming off a 10-win 2022 season. If you want to play it safe, bet them to win more than 9.5 games because they have serious talent yet again.
They have a fantastic offensive line and outstanding weapons for new quarterback Drew Allar, a dynamic dual-threat player, to work with. The defense was fantastic in 2022, allowing just 18.2 points per game. This team is loaded and might only need to win one of the two games against Ohio State and Michigan to have a chance to get into the Big Ten title game. The Big Ten is stacked and Penn State is the real deal.
