There’s so much to talk about this year’s Time to Move exhibition by the Swiss watch conglomerate Swatch Group. Among the top brands in the group that participated in the event, the best highlights come from Omega. The world-renowned luxury watch brand displayed its latest timepieces in the exhibition.
Are you itching to know the latest offerings from Omega? Here’s a run-down of Omega watch releases this year.
Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
Omega made history when NASA astronauts chose to wear the Speedmaster Professional when they went to the moon. And, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of that historic partnership this year, the Swiss luxury watch brand released a limited edition of the Omega Speedmaster.
The Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition features a black ceramic bezel insert and a 42mm steel case with bezel created in 18k Moonshine gold. It has a dial with a varnished gray center containing three black sub-dial with the one on the left depicting Buzz Aldrin descending from the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle to take his first steps on the moon.
The caseback displays an engraved footprint encircled with the famous quote from Neil Armstrong, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
This incredible timepiece is powered by hand-wound Caliber 3861, which is inspired by the classic 861 and 1861 movements.
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M brings back the classic bright orange bezel which became popular in 2005. This dive watch sports a 43.5mm stainless steel case and a helium escape valve attached at the 10 o’clock position.
It has a ceramic fresh white dial that complements well with the bright orange 6, 9, and 12 numerals. The Seamaster text in the dial and the tip of the second’s hand are also in bright orange. Plus, you can take a peek at the Master Chronometer Caliber 8900 through the sapphire caseback of this fantastic watch.
As with the band, Omega allows you to choose from two options. You can either choose the striped orange, gray and white strap with strap keepers and a steel buckle or the fully-brushed stainless steel strap with a diver’s extension clasp.
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph
With a series of new models and remarkable enhancements to the famed Seamaster Diver 300M lineup last year, Omega decided to add a chronograph edition to its collection this 2019.
The latest Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph boasts a 44mm case, a helium escape valve, and a unidirectional rotating bezel in ceramic. What’s good with this new edition is that you can choose from a range of materials including Sedna gold, stainless steel, and a two-tone combination of both. There are also strap options and choices for the dial and bezel color.
The constant feature of Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph is the wave pattern on its dial, with a date window at 6 o’clock and two registers at 3 and 9 o’clock.
You can also take a glimpse of the Caliber 9901 (gold version) or Caliber 9900 (steel and two-tone version) through its sapphire caseback. Both Omega Caliber 9901 and Caliber 9900 feature a 15,000 gauss of magnetic resistance and 60 hours of power reserve.
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean “Deep Black” Casamigos
Although this timepiece wasn’t displayed at the event, it’s still worth a mention as one of the best Omega watches released this 2019.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean “Deep Black” Casamigos is a collaboration between Omega and Casamigos – a Mexico-based tequila and mezcal brand. This successful partnership came about when Mike Meldman, Rande Gerber, and Omega brand ambassador George Clooney decided to make their own tequila for private consumption while vacationing in Mexico.
They named the drink “casamigos”, which means “house of friends” in Spanish. Then, the tequila which was intended for private consumption was sold to the public.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean “Deep Black” Casamigos is a GMT watch that features a 45.5mm black ceramic case with a matte texture. The inspiration from the tequila brand is visible on the dial’s teal markings and the dark sapphire crystal caseback with the Casamigos logo on it.
