The Yankees and the Red Sox Add Another Benches-Clearing Brawl to Their Heated Rivalry

It’s a new baseball season but the bitterness between longstanding rival baseball clubs Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees remains.

During the seventh inning of the Apr. 11 game at Boston’s Fenway Park, Red Sox relief pitcher Joe Kelly drilled Yankees infielder Tyler Austin in his back with a pitch, in retaliation for a spikes-up slide Austin had made at second base in the third inning:

And thus, the brawl ensued, clearing both teams’ benches. Take a look:

Kelly, Austin and Yankees third base coach Phil Nevin were all tossed out of the game as a result.
