Thursday Final Nationals: ABC Dominates with Warriors-Cavaliers NBA Finals Game 6

“NBA Finals Game 6” on ABC won the night across all of television for the 54th consecutive time.

Thursday night’s Game 6 – the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors to even the series 3-3 – generated 20.702 million average viewers, peaking with 25.254 million viewers from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET.

The Cleveland market averaged a 44.3 metered market rating and the San Francisco market averaged a 34.9 metered market rating.

Opposite basketball, there was scarce sampling for the 2-hour season premiere of NBC’s “Aquarius” (not rated in final nationals because it aired commercial-free) and the season premiere of Fox’s “Home Free”.

But not all programs that aired in direct competition to the NBA faltered: The United States’ 2-1 win over Ecuador, which clinched a spot in the semifinals of the “2016 Copa America Centenario: The Championship of the Americas”, averaged 2.132 million viewers on FS1 Thursday, according to Nielsen Media Research.

That ranks as the most-watched men’s soccer match in the network’s history, the Americans’ third consecutive Copa America match to set that record.

The 2016 COPA AMERICA CENTENARIO has produced four of the top five men’s soccer ratings in FS1 history, as viewership for the four U.S. matches has grown throughout the tournament.

The same match drew even a bigger audience on Spanish-language outlet UniMas (in simulcast with Univision Deportes), averaging 3.14 million viewers for the 9:00-11:35 p.m. telecast window.
