Thursday Final Nationals: TNT Scores Its Most-Watched NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 To-Date

TNT easily was the all-around prime time winner on this Thursday evening, the first night of the summer 2016 TV season.

TNT’s exclusive presentation of the 2016 NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 – Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Golden State Warriors – delivered the network’s most-viewed NBA Western Conference Finals Game 5 telecast of all time, averaging 9.998 million total viewers and a 6.1 U.S. household rating.

Additionally, TNT’s Inside the NBA netted its highest overnight rating of the playoffs to date, with the 3.4 household rating ranking as the second-best program of the night on cable television.

The Thunder/Warriors telecast – peaking with an average of 13.6 million viewers and an 8.1 U.S. household rating from 11:15-11:30 p.m. ET – is up 44 percent in total viewers and 42 percent in U.S. household rating when compared with 2014, the last time the network televised the Western Conference Finals (Oklahoma City vs. San Antonio). This year’s coverage of WCF Game 5 also generated double-digit audience growth across all key demos including a 42 percent increase in adults 18-34 and 35 percent increase in men 18-34.

Top local markets for the Thunder/Warriors Game 5 telecast — Oklahoma City (25.0), San Francisco (23.7), Cleveland (15.2) Tulsa (13.2), and Miami (11.4).

Turner’s TV Everywhere platforms generated 702,000 uniques for last night’s Thunder/Warriors game, 15.9 million minutes of consumption and 1.3 million video starts.
