-Ratings Breakdown:
”The Big Bang Theory” on CBS ruled the night, as always, with a 9.4 rating/16 share in the household overnights in the 8 p.m. half-hour. Historically, no primetime series in its 11th season has ever remained this dominant. And it led into a 7.9/13 (#1t) for prequel “Young Sheldon,” which continues to hold more of adult Sheldon and company audience than any other show. But it was “Thursday Night Football” on NBC (Dallas Cowboys 38, Washington Redskins 14) that kept NBC in the overnight winner’s circle, with an estimated 8.4/14 from 8:30-11:15 p.m. Combined with coverage on the NFLN, that household rating rose to a 10.7 (with a 5.2 rating in adults 18-49).

Also on CBS were typical overnight performances for sitcoms “Mom” (#2: 5.6/ 9 at 9 p.m.) and “Life in Pieces” (#3: 4.3/ 7 at 9:30 p.m.) and recent crime solver entry “S.W.A.T. (#2: 4.7/ 8 at 10 p.m.), which has received a full season episode order. Comparably, “S.W.A.T.” was 47 percent above failed year-ago occupant “Pure Genius” (3.2/ 6 on 12/01/16).

In the specials department was “The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration” on ABC at a modest 3.2/ 5 (#3) from 9-11 p.m. That led out of a third-place 3.9/ 7 for a repeat of annual animated holiday classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Elsewhere, Fox finished in the distant No. 4 spot with its pairing of “Gotham” (#4: 2.0/ 3), which has not performed well since moving to Thursday, and freshman “The Orville” (#4: 2.6/ 4), which has been renewed for the full season. And The CW featured “Supernatural” (#5: 1.2/ 2 at 8 p.m.) into a Thursday 9 p.m. edition of “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” (#5: 0.8/ 1 at 9 p.m.).
