Thursday Overnights: ‘Big Brother’ on CBS Tops Evening Despite Lack of Lead-in Support from ‘Love Island’

CW Drama 'The Outpost' Returns at Expected Modest Levels

Thursday, July 11, 2019

Household Rating/Share
CBS and Fox: 2.3/ 4, NBC: 2.2/ 4, ABC: 2.0/ 4, CW: 0.5/ 1

-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
Fox: + 5, ABC: – 5, NBC: – 8, CW: -17, CBS: -28

Ratings Breakdown:
Despite the lack of lead-in support, “Big Brother” on CBS topped the evening, with a 2.9 rating/5 share in households in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour. Comparably, that increased from lead-in “Love Island” (#4: 1.9/ 3 at 8 p.m.) by a significant 53 percent. But when a 2.9 rating in the overnight households is the highest rated, there is certainly not much overall interest.

In season premiere news, CW drama “The Outpost” opened season two with a 0.5/ 1 at 9 p.m., which is typical for any CW series this summer.

Elsewhere, “Hollywood Game Night” on NBC, hosted by Jane Lynch, finished second in the 9 p.m. hour with a 2.0. On ABC, recent non-scripted entry “Holy Moley” (#1: 2.6/ 5 at 8 p.m.) is the only Thursday summer entry showing any signs of life. And Fox was at typical summer Thursday overnight levels as follows:
