Thursday Overnights: Consistent, but Moderate Return for ‘The Great American Baking Show’ on ABC

The Jacksonville Jaguars versus the Tennessee Titans on “Thursday Night Football” on Fox led the network to overnight victory, with an estimated 6.7 rating/12 share in households for the 8:30-10 p.m. ET portion. The game ultimately ended at 11:21 p.m. ET and the results will be updated to reflect this afternoon at programminginsider.com.

In season premiere news, ABC holiday competition “The Great American Baking Show” opened with a 2.7/ 5 in households from 9-11 p.m., which was almost identical to the 2.6/ 4 opener on the year-ago evening. It led out of annual animated classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which socred a 3.5/ 6 (#2) in the 8 p.m. hour.

Elsewhere, “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS led the night, as usual, with an 8.6/15 in the 8 p.m. half-hour. That led into a 7.2/12 for prequel “Young Sheldon” at 8:30 p.m., which will have to stand on its own next season, followed by typical overnight results for sitcoms “Mom” (#2: 5.9/ 9) and “Murphy Brown” (#2: 4.3/ 7) and sophomore crime solver “S.W.A.T.” (#1: 3.9/ 7) from 9-11 p.m.
