Thursday Overnights: Consistent Return for Dominant ‘Big Brother’

Ratings Breakdown:
CBS summer mainstay “Big Brother” returned to the Thursday 9 p.m. hour with a dominant 3.3 rating/6 share in the household overnights, which was equal to the year-ago evening. Comparably, that bested competing “The Match Game” on ABC (#2: 2.5/ 5) and the second-half of Fox singing competition “The Four: Battle for Stardom” (#3: 2.2/ 4) by 32 percent and 50 percent, respectively. And it was, on average, 78 percent above two episodes of NBC sitcom “Marlon” (9 p.m.: #4; 2.0/ 4; 9:30 p.m. #4: 1.7/ 3 at 9:30 p.m.). Comparably, the double dose of “Marlon,” starring Marlon Wayans, was 34 percent below the 2.9/ 5 for year-ago time period game show occupant “The Wall.”

Overall, “The Four: Battle for Stardom” scored a modest 2.0/ 4 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was on par with the year-ago combination of “Beat Shazam!” and “Love Connection.”

In week two news, ABC scripted drama “Take Two” dipped to a 2.2/ 4 at 10 p.m., which tied an encore telecast of “S.W.A.T.” on CBS and was 12 percent below the 2.5/ 5 in the household overnights for its debut one week earlier. Comparably, that 2.5 in households translated into just 3.36 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.2 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live+Same Day data.

At 8 p.m., NBC’s “Little Big Shots” (#2: 3.6/ 7) outdelivered sophomore “The Gong Show” on ABC (#3: 2.2/ 4) by 64 percent.
