Thursday Overnights: Modest Finale for ‘Gotham’ on Fox

Ratings Breakdown:
“Gotham” concluded its five season run on Fox at a modest 1.9/ 3 in the household overnights at 8 p.m., which led into a 2.4/ 4 at 9 p.m. (#3) for the sophomore season finale of “The Orville.” As always, a boasting point for “The Orville” remains the overnight rating growth from its lead-in.

CBS led this final April Thursday, with soon-to-conclude “The Big Bang Theory” tops at an 8.2 rating/15 share in the 8 p.m. half-hour. The remainder of the line-up – “Young Sheldon” (6.8/12), “Mom” (5.4/ 9), “Life in Pieces” (3.9/ 7) and “S.W.A.T.” (3.6/ 7) – led their time periods as well. Comparably, “S.W.A.T.” competing “Law & Order: SVU” on NBC (2.9/ 6) by 24 percent in households.

ABC preempted its regular Thursday slate for night one of the 2019 NFL Draft, which averaged an approximate 3.7/ 6 in the household overnights from 8-11 p.m. Results for any live sporting event are always estimated.

Elsewhere, only “Superstore” on NBC (#3: 2.1/ 4) got any mileage among the network’s Thursday 8-10 p.m. sitcom black, and it was minor. And “Supernatural” closed its 14th season on The CW with a 0.9/ 2 at 8 p.m. (#5). That led into a modest 0.5/ 1 (#5) for recently introduced drama “In the Dark” at 9 p.m.
