Ratings Breakdown:
“The Bachelor” on ABC remained the dominant program on Monday, with a consistent 5.3 rating/9 share in the metered market households from 8-10 p.m. last night. Comparably, that outdelivered competing “American Ninja Warrior”: All Stars on NBC (3.0/ 5) by a hefty 77 percent. But don’t rule out interest in the key young adult demographics for “American Ninja Warrior.”

The “American Ninja Warrior” special led into what was likely the series finale of freshman NBC drama “Timeless” (#2: 2.1/ 4), which trailed competing “Scorpion” on CBS (#1: 4.5/ 8) by 53 percent in the household overnights. One year earlier, the second half of a two-hour edition of “The Biggest Loser” scored a 2.8/ 5 in the Monday 10 p.m. hour on NBC.

In the distant third place spot at 10 p.m. was ABC’s relocated “Quantico” (1.8/ 3), which slipped from the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “The Bachelor” (5.3/ 8) by 66 percent.

In the Monday freshman midseason scorecard, the third episode (and fourth overall) of CBS sitcom “Superior Donuts” slid slightly to a 4.4/ 7 (#2) in the 9 p.m. half-hour, which was four percent below the 4.6/ 7 one week earlier. But it had full retention out of lead-in “Man With a Plan” (#2: 4.3/ 7 at 8:30 p.m.), which should translate into a mid-1 rating in adults 18-49 based on the Live + Same Day data. In other words, “Superior Donuts” is not a hit or a miss at present. It falls in the middle.

On Fox, both “24: Legacy” (#3: 3.2/ 5) and “APB” (#4: 2.7/ 4) lost more overnight steam, declining 14 percent and 18 percent, respectively, from one week earlier. This could mean “APB” will fall below a 1-rating in adults 18-49, while “24: Legacy” is more likely a low-1 rating in the demo, based on the Live + Same Day data. Considering “24: Legacy” is a known brand with recent exposure out of “The Super Bowl,” this is particularly disappointing.

Elsewhere, “Kevin Can Wait” opened the night for CBS with a healthy 4.7/ 8 (#2) in the household overnights at 8 p.m. “2 Broke Girls” on the Eye net at 9:30 p.m. (3.8/ 6) held 86 percent of the “Superior Donuts” lead-in. And The CW’s combination of “Supergirl” (#5: 1.8/ 3) and “”Jane the Virgin” (#5: 0.8/ 1) was at typical overnight levels.
