Phil Donahue began his record long daytime talker “Donahue” in Dayton, Ohio in 1967. It entered national syndication in January 1970 and was a staple in daytime through September 13, 1996…Drama “24” with Kiefer Sutherland began on Fox in 2001. It concluded on May 24, 2010 and was revived in the summer of 2014 for a ninth season. It was also rebooted as “24” Legacy” with Corey Hawkins and aired for 12 episodes in 2017.

Movies:
“The English Patient” based on the novel by Michael Ondaatje, directed by Anthony Minghella and starring Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche and Kristen Scott Thomas premiered in Los Angeles in 1996. It won 9 Oscars, including Best Picture…“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,“ the fourth film based on the books by J.K. Rowling, premiered in London in 2005. It was the sequel to sequel to “Harry Potter and the Prisoner or Azkaban” and the fourth installment in the “Harry Potter” film series.
 
Music:
“I’m Your Baby Tonight,” the 3rd studio album by Whitney Houston was released in 1990. It was named Billboard Album of the Year in 1991.

Two-time Oscar winner Sally Field (“Places in the Heart,” “Norma Ray”) is 76; actor Ethan Hawke (“Before Sunrise”) is 52; actress Thandie Newton (“Westworld”) is 50; basketball player and reality star Lamar Odom is 43; Oscar winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) is 34.

In 1984, “Donahue” introduced many viewers to hip-hop culture, in a telecast featuring break dancing for the first time on national television (accompanied by a performance from the hip hop group UTFO)…In an eighth season episode of “Seinfeld” called “The English Patient” (originally telecast on March 13, 1997), Jerry and company gave their thoughts on the Oscar-winning film. Said Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine: “Why is everyone talking about ‘The English Patient’? It’s so romantic”? God, that movie stunk!”
