More than 78 million viewers tuned in to see Richard Kimble (David Janssen) square off with the “One-Armed Man” (Bill Raisch) on the series finale of the original version of drama “The Fugitive” on ABC in 1967. This was the most watched episode of a regularly scheduled television series until the mystery of “Who Shot J.R. on CBS’ “Dallas” on November 21, 1980. Netflix was founded by American entrepreneurs Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in 1997. It was originally a video-rental company and later expanded into video streaming and production.

Music
The Beatles played their last live concert in front of a paying public at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California in 1966. The band came together one last time for an unannounced performance in January 1969 on the rooftop of the Apple building in London.

Judson was granted a U.S. patent for a “clasp locker” in 1893, which evolved into the zipper…Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast and devastated the area, especially New Orleans, which experienced catastrophic flooding after its levees were breached the following day.

Did You Know?
The attempted revival of “The Fugitive” with Tim Daly aired for one season on CBS in the 2000-01 season. It’s lead-out show, also new, was “CSI” and that thrived at a 15-season run. The theatrical version of “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford, of course, fared much better in 1993.
