Television:
HBO horror anthology “Tales From the Crypt” debuted in 1989. It aired for seven seasons, producing 93 episodes…Rap group 2 Live Crew were arrested in Florida in 1990 for obscenity… Surrealistic serialized drama “Twin Peaks” concluded on ABC in 1991 after a two season (and 30-episode) run. It was revived as a miniseries on Showtime in 2017…Syndicated talker “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” premiered in 1996. Although it lasted just six seasons, it became an instant daytime hit, earning five Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show throughout its run…The Sopranos” ended its Emmy-award winning six season run on HBO in 2007 with the infamous “cut to black” ending.

Movies:
James Bond film “Octopussy,” starring Roger Moore, was released in theaters in 1983…Action classic “Speed” starring Keanu Reeves and Dennis Hopper opened in 1994. It was the film where Sandra Bullock became a household name…”Jurassic World was released in 60 countries in 2015. It became the first movie to make $500 million its opening weekend.

Theater:
The play “Torch Song Trilogy, by Harvey Fierstein, opened on Broadway in 1982

Music:
Richard Wagner’s opera “Tristan und Isolde, the first example of musical drama, premiered in Munich, Germany in 1865. Reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart: “The Candy Man” by Sammy Davis Jr. in 1972; “You’re The One That I Want” by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in 1978; “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler in 1989.

Food and Beverages:
After the dismal release of New Coke, the Coca-Cola company announced in 1985 it was bringing back its original formula.

Technology:
The Apple II computer was introduced in 1977.

Did You Know?
There were plans to spin off Sherilynn Fenn’s character on “Twin Peaks,” Audrey Horne, into her own series, but they didn’t come off. But Audrey was the inspiration for Naomi Watt’s character in 2001 theatrical “Mulholland Drive.
