Preview and Format:
The PGA Tour Championship is settling into this busy weekend as the second round is underway. The last PGA Tour event on the schedule is at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. World No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler, leads the way through the first round. Scheffler started the day at 10-under-par based on his season-long performance and ranking.
Patrick Cantlay started the day at eight-under-par. Will Zalatories was seven, Xander Schauffele was six, and Sam Burns was five-under-par. Scheffler shot five-under-par in the first round, bringing his leading total to 15-under-par through the first 18 holes.
Based on the PGA Tour season 2021-2022 points and the first two playoffs, the top 30 golfers will enter the competition to grab the FedEx Cup. The PGA Masters winner and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is leading the field. Not only that, he will get a headstart in the Tour Championship 2022.
Last Year’s FedEx Cup winner Patrick Cantlay is right behind Scottie Scheffler. He is coming off winning the second playoff BMW Championship last week. Will Zalatoris, who won the first St. Jude Championship, miss this competition? He withdrew last week in Wilmington due to a back injury.
