Tuesday Final Nationals: ABC Earns its Best Tuesday of Season To-Date Highlighted by ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Finale

Tuesday again saw the regular share of victory: CBS among total viewers (11.41 million) and NBC among adults 18-49 (1.9 rating/7 share), adults 18-34 (1.2/5) and adults 25-54 (2.6/8).

ABC (9.49 million) placed runner-up to CBS in total viewers and runner-up to NBC in young adult demos on the night. Both ABC comedies in the 8 p.m. hour grew in total viewers from the previous Tuesday. “The Middle” (6.88 million) marked its most-watched telecast this season and “American Housewife” (6.14 million) drew its largest audience since its series debut from Oct. 11.

The 23rd season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” delivered 10.974 million viewers and a 1.8/6 in adults 18-49 to the 2-hour time period. Building from its first hour to its second hour, “DWTS” won the final hour of the night in total viewers and adults 18-49. In its final half-hour from 10:30-11pm, as Laurie Hernandez won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy, “DWTS” surged to 11.415 million viewers. “DWTS” was up from its Season 22 finale (on 5/24/16) in total viewers (+5 percent – 10.974 million vs. 10.492 million) and adults 18-49 (+13 percent – 1.8/6 vs. 1.6/5).

Overall, it was ABC’s best Tuesday night of the season to-date among total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.
