Tuesday Final Nationals: NBC’s ‘Little Big Shots’ Delivers Most-Watched Alternative Series Start in Six Years

NBC ruled Tuesday night, by far, with another edition of “The Voice” and a special preview of Steve Harvey’s new kids talent showcase “Little Big Shots”. Excluding sports programming, it was NBC’s largest in-season Tuesday win among adults 18-49 — with a +182 percent margin over runner-up CBS — in people-meter history and NBC’s biggest in-season Tuesday victory among total viewers — an +81 percent margin over #2 CBS — in nearly 27 years (since May 23, 1989, NBC’s 33.918 million viewers was up +99% over #2 ABC’s 17.069 million).

The huge debut of NBC’s “Little Big Shots”:

· Ranks as the highest-rated alternative series premiere or preview on any network in 18-49 in four-and-a-half years in 18-49 (since Fox’s “X-Factor” on Sept. 21, 2011, 4.4)

· Is the best NBC alternative series premiere or preview in 18-49 in nearly five years (since “The Voice” on April 26, 2011, 5.1)

· Ranks as the most-watched alternative series premiere or preview on any network in six years (since “The Marriage Ref” out of the Olympic Closing Ceremony on Feb. 28, 2010, 14.448 million).

· Is NBC’s most-watched premiere in any genre in three-and-a-half years (since “Go On” out of Olympics on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, 16.094 million)

· Excluding post-Olympic premieres, this also goes back to Jay Leno Show on Monday, 9/14/09 (18.455 million, 10-11pm)

· Wins the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key measure.

· Outscores the combined ABC-CBS competition by +53% in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 1.1 for CBS and 0.8 for ABC).

· Scores NBC’s highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the slot since the “Voice” finale Dec. 15 (3.1 in 18-49, 13.3 million viewers overall in the 10-11 p.m. hour).

On the opposite end of the spectrum at 10 p.m. was the series premiere of ABC’s biblical drama “Of Kings and Prophets” which placed a disappointing fourth in the hour among adults 18-49 behind NBC (2.9 rating), FX (1.2) and CBS (1.1).
