  • Stephen Colbert’s interview of ex-FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday night helped “The Late Show” to its largest overnight rating of this season (3.5/9) and its third-highest overnight rating ever (since Colbert officially took over as host on Sep. 8, 2015).

Colbert defeated NBC’s “The Tonight Show” (1.7/5) and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel” (1.5/4) combined. It was Colbert’s biggest lead over “The Tonight Show” (+1.8) since its premiere in September 2015 (+2.5).

“The Late Show” also was late night’s #1 telecast in adults 18-49 (0.6 rating/4 share), tying its highest-rated Tuesday in the demo this season.
